TeamRachel aka mrskatvon is both a website to gain public awareness of Juvenile Batten Disease (which affects my oldest daughter) as well as a journal to remember the events in our lives.
Rachel was diagnosed with Batten Disease in July 2009 and while we knew something was "not right" we had no idea that such a nightmarish disease existed. There are dozens of nasty, orphan disease which affect people both very young and old.
Aside from dealing with the changes of Batten Disease in my daughter, Rachel, I have tasked myself with making life memorable for all of my children to make sure that (at least) 3 of them grow up to be as well adjusted and happy as possible.

Out of my last 5 birthday’s, I have been pregnant for four of them (see above at 33w5d). One miscarriage and weeks away from three gorgeous children in that time. Today is my 28th birthday and I have to say that I am really looking forward to today. I usually hate birthdays because I never want anything and I always seem to end up disappointed. I don’t have those same feelings this year, I guess I am at peace. I don’t need anything. I don’t want anything.
I feel really lucky in my life right now, truly blessed by good fortune. This is my last birthday of being pregnant and another step closer to being “Over The Hill” at 30. I can’t wait to see where I will be next year, I’m hoping to weigh a lot less (!).

Favorite Shows: 4400, House, ER and any and all House Flipping and Interior Design Shows.
Favorite Dessert: CHOCOLATE

Favorite Drink: Vanilla Caramel Tea – extra milk, no sugar
