Friday Morning

Posted by Kat in Life

Today John is taking the day off, and I am working all day… John finds it very difficult for me to work on my computer in the living room, so apparently he has set-up remote access on my working machine (desktop) to my laptop (I never use it anymore).

Am I the only one who thinks laptops aren’t made to hold up? I have gone through countless laptops. They never, ever last. I’m pretty good to them, a lot better than I ever used to be.

Anyways… I think we are going apple picking tomorrow. There are a lot of farms within a little over an hour. I always make the mistake – EVERY YEAR – of going too late. This year we are going at the right time and will hopefully come back with some great berries, squash and apples….. not to mention some fantastic pictures.

September 30th is Free Museum Day… we are going to take the kids to the MFA and probably be banned for life. John joked that Julie will throw her sippy cup at a Rembrant. Heaven help us. lol

Click for participating Museums near you.

Free Coloring Pages.

Very cool, great to get the little bitty kiddos in the mood for Halloween (etc).

King Richard’s Faire

King Richard’s Faire is in “Boston”!!!!

Holly Hill Farm

This is the closest organic farm in the next town over. We still haven’t been there but have plans to go this week!

Wilson Farms

The apple picking farm we are going to this weekend at some point. It is about 1:20 away.

K12

In my opinion, the best homeschooling curriculum out there!

I tag Lori, Lanna, Angie, Corey and CrazedMommy to post their favorite family links. :)

Ah…I got mentioned!!! I actually don’t have any family sites. I still just read all that baby stuff. :)

Laptops… Nope, not as heavy duty as they used to me. I myself have a monster of a laptop from 1997. That still works – I’m typing on it right now. ;) It’s big, it’s heavy, it’s lasted through a not-so-nice ex, the kids haven’t demolished it yet, etc. Only drawback is that it’s so old and can only run Windows 98 that I only do email and web stuff on it. No room for Word or Excel even (because the blasted programs keep getting bigger and bigger). But since I don’t work from home or anything, it suits my purposes until it finally dies.

Off to figure out my links (and I’m just gonna go through my bookmarks or stuff I have memorized, too lazy to do much more right now).

About Me

TeamRachel aka mrskatvon is both a website to gain public awareness of Juvenile Batten Disease (which affects my oldest daughter) as well as a journal to remember the events in our lives. Rachel was diagnosed with Batten Disease in July 2009 and while we knew something was "not right" we had no idea that such a nightmarish disease existed. There are dozens of nasty, orphan disease which affect people both very young and old. Aside from dealing with the changes of Batten Disease in my daughter, Rachel, I have tasked myself with making life memorable for all of my children to make sure that (at least) 3 of them grow up to be as well adjusted and happy as possible.
