About Me
TeamRachel aka mrskatvon is both a website to gain public awareness of Juvenile Batten Disease (which affects my oldest daughter) as well as a journal to remember the events in our lives.
Rachel was diagnosed with Batten Disease in July 2009 and while we knew something was "not right" we had no idea that such a nightmarish disease existed. There are dozens of nasty, orphan disease which affect people both very young and old.
Aside from dealing with the changes of Batten Disease in my daughter, Rachel, I have tasked myself with making life memorable for all of my children to make sure that (at least) 3 of them grow up to be as well adjusted and happy as possible.

And the underlying thought I had was how much I miss you guys. I really would love to come see you soon, if at all possible. I don’t know the logistics of making a trip out your way at this point, but on my end I could throw Jack in the car and drive (after getting our passports, of course! Silly laws!) Lisa is a good friend of mine and I love her work. But really what I came to say to you Kat is that my heart aches for you. I know I cannot possibly say the right thing. But if I’ve learned anything as my youngest daughter (also Cat) continues her battle against cancer – it just somehow helps to know that others care.
