Thanksgiving 2009
Thanksgiving should be renamed: “Key Lime Pie Day.”
Today was a good day. Good food made by my Mom and awesome desserts made by my other half. Rachel had a good day today, she has been “entertaining” my cousin and his wife who are here from England. I spent 10 minutes watching her watch TV before bedtime tonight and was humbled by how much she overcomes on a daily basis and how truly little (very little) Rachel complains.
Life is so humbling if you stop and look around for a minute.
Love my kids. Love Key Lime pie. Anyone else out there love a good key lime pie? 
TeamRachel aka mrskatvon is both a website to gain public awareness of Juvenile Batten Disease (which affects my oldest daughter) as well as a journal to remember the events in our lives.
Rachel was diagnosed with Batten Disease in July 2009 and while we knew something was "not right" we had no idea that such a nightmarish disease existed. There are dozens of nasty, orphan disease which affect people both very young and old.
Aside from dealing with the changes of Batten Disease in my daughter, Rachel, I have tasked myself with making life memorable for all of my children to make sure that (at least) 3 of them grow up to be as well adjusted and happy as possible.
Can’t say that I’ve ever had a keylime pie! I really should try some sometime though! Glad that you had a good Thanksgiving!
I was hoping that I wouldn’t have to work tonight… but guess what… no phone call so in I go!

Last night she (Rachel) decided to read to the kids. While it was painful to watch her struggle to make out the letters it was so beautiful to see her functioning as the big sister. She is amazing.
