Village Idol

Posted by Kat in Batten, Business, Good Stuff, Humor, John, Julie, Kat, Life, London, Rachel, Vacation

I signed John up to do Village Idol and took the video (so I could hide behind the camera, I won’t lie). Rachel is hiding in the shadows, John is multitasking with Julie and Boston while London is sitting in the audience with another child’s father. This was during our Make a Wish trip at “Give Kids the World.”

Today felt like Christmas

Posted by Kat in Good Stuff, Kat

It has been weeks since we have had a “day off” and it was amazing. It honestly felt like Christmas (no exaggeration). No school, no work, no customers, no shop. Just the 6 of us, all day long.

I feel so refreshed (I actually stayed in bed until 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

Today was an amazing day.

Wednesday au jus

Posted by Kat in Boston, Good Stuff, Health, John, Julie, Kat, Life, London, Rachel, Work

I will resume my blog soon, I promise.

The marriage has been going pretty good and I am very happy about it!

The girls are great, their summer school finished a couple of weeks ago.

The boys are coming up on 1 and 2 and I cannot freakin’ wait! Once Boston turns 1, I’ll take a deep breath and start to look for the light at the end of the tunnel.

This weekend I plan on taking major amounts of pictures and will share them with y’all. I have had a horrible relationship with my digital camera and have been terrible about taking pictures because of it.

School starts in 5(ish) weeks for me and I am working on getting John enrolled as well. : – o

Movie Nights

Posted by Kat in Good Stuff

I really, really, really love watching a good movie at home. I know that John and I have not been able to get much alone time since we have been together (nearly 6 years!) but when we have the time to sit down and watch a movie in the comforts of our leather couch, there really is no finer adult activity that I can think of to do. We had my friend from HS join us and Rachel actually ended up watching the first 30 minutes and it was just so nice to kick back with people you are completely comfortable with and hang out with a good movie.

About Me

TeamRachel aka mrskatvon is both a website to gain public awareness of Juvenile Batten Disease (which affects my oldest daughter) as well as a journal to remember the events in our lives. Rachel was diagnosed with Batten Disease in July 2009 and while we knew something was "not right" we had no idea that such a nightmarish disease existed. There are dozens of nasty, orphan disease which affect people both very young and old. Aside from dealing with the changes of Batten Disease in my daughter, Rachel, I have tasked myself with making life memorable for all of my children to make sure that (at least) 3 of them grow up to be as well adjusted and happy as possible.
